- Bryn Balcombe is Autonomy Systems and Regulatory Expert at Oxbotica, a global leader in the commercial deployment of universal autonomous vehicle software. Balcombe, who holds a BEng in Mechanical Engineering & Vehicle Design, is the founder of the Autonomous Drivers Alliance (ADA) and previously served as Chief Technology Officer for Roborace: the world’s first autonomous motorsport championship designed to accelerate the research and development of vehicle intelligence and human-machine interfaces. From 2018 to 2022, Balcombe chaired the ITU-T Focus Group on AI for Autonomous and Assisted Driving (FG-AI4AD), with over 350 global participants including non-governmental organisations, policy makers, industry forums and consortia, companies and academic institutions. In Formula One he architected and patented vehicle-to-infrastructure communication systems and developed the F1 Group’s first global media network. He has also consulted on technology strategy for international organisations and was a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Computing.
